FAQ's

Why do Signature Needles cost more than other commercially available needles?

Each needle is constructed from high quality aluminum and each point is precision turned and hand polished allowing stitches to glide effortlessly. Our needles are made 100% in the United States and meet all state and federal environmental regulations. Our commitment to having the product made here in the United States ensures you will receive a safe high quality product. We are also concerned with the treatment of workers in foreign factories.

Is Signature Needle Arts committed to environmentally responsible practices?

Signature Needle Arts is committed to being environmentally responsible by maintaining a clean and safe environment, both in our shop and throughout our manufacturing processes. Both anodizing and brite dip anodizing are permitted within the state of Wisconsin. Our facility is located within 8 miles of the Illinois border, and our anodizing supplier was selected not as a means to circumvent Wisconsin environmental laws, but rather to utilize the closest resources to our facility. This results in both lower costs to the consumer and the ability to maintain our commitment to environmentally friendly processes. The brite dip process that is used on many aluminum components was selected for the needles in order to achieve a reflective finish that meets cosmetic standards. All of the chemistry used in this process must be neutralized to meet United States EPA regulations. In addition, our anodizer, confirms that all "products, materials, and substances used to anodize aluminum are fully compliant with the provisions contained in EU directive RoHS (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances 2002/95/EC (including permitted exceptions)." Signature will continue its commitment to protecting the environment as a part of its business practice.

Can I customize the colors of my needles?

Because we have so many different options (length, size etc.) we have had to reduce the number of colors available to 5. All colors are size specific. If customers could choose a color we would have to manufacture and stock 12 single point needle sizes x 3 lengths x 3 tips x 3 caps= 324 choices x 5 colors = 1,620 different choices.

High volume orders can be quoted for custom colors. Please call or email for more information.

Is it possible to monogram my needles?

At this time we are able to monogram circular needles with up to 20 characters including spaces.

The monogram will look similar to the laser marking on any of our other Signature needles. Examples can be found throughout the site as a point of reference. The message or monogram will appear in white exactly as the laser marking on all of our needles appears with the mm/US Sizes. Monogrammed items are final sales.

Is it possible to monogram previously purchased circulars?

If it is a convertible circular, yes.  Please call or email for more information.  If it is a fixed circular, unfortunately not - Due to the order in which the manufacturing process and monogramming need to take place, circulars that are already assembled cannot be monogrammed.  We are also not able to monogram previously purchased Single Point Needles.

Can I return or exchange my monogrammed needles?

No, ALL SALES FINAL.

Can I monogram any 20 characters on my needles?

Requests for monograms with profane or objectionable words or phrases will not be honored. We reserve the right to refuse any monogram submitted by a customer.

What do you recommend for treating a circular cable that has developed a kink?

We offer a flexible cable that should not kink.  If your cable does experience some memory to it, the heat of your hands or some hot water on the cable should allow you to smooth out any kinking.

What do you recommend to clean my Signature needles?

We recommend rubbing alcohol, denatured alcohol, warm water and a soft cloth, or even an unscented aerosol Lysol cleaner. Harsh cleaners, dishwashing soap and water combinations, and use of related chemicals on the needles are not recommended. These chemicals can discolor and damage your needles and will void any warranty.

Are there recommendations on how to store my Signature needles?

Proper storage of all Signature needles is essential to keeping your needles in pristine condition for years to come. DPNs should be stored in our DPN storage tubes and points should remain protected when not in use. We recommend our fabric storage cases for our single point and circular needles. The deep pockets on the single point cases protect the points and our circular cases keep both the cable and points protected. Needles should not be stored point down in a vase or other container that is harder than aluminum. For example glass vases, containers filled with glass or plastic, beads, stainless steel cups, etc. Placing needles in your knitting bag unprotected may result in damage from heavier objects around them.

The best way is to join the newsletter list. You will get an email telling you when new products are available.
